WLNS Launches Investigative Series Into Failed Michigan State Police Leadership

Lansing, MI - On the heels of calls for resignation from lawmakers and state troopers, Michigan State Police leadership is about to see new blistering headlines.

This week, WLNS launched a multi-part investigative series on the Michigan State Police, combing through hundreds of documents to uncover the failed leadership under Director James Grady and his right-hand Aimee Brimacombe.

The first story, ‘Big Boys’ Club’: Disconnect in the Michigan State Police, was released last night, and alleges DEI policies have resulted in increased demotions and firings among MSP rank and file, specifically referencing a case involving the firing of former trooper Megan Moryc. Excerpt quotes from retired MSP leadership:

“...Merit and trust have gone out the window at MSP and troopers are unhappy and rightfully afraid… When troopers feel afraid of their leaders, they feel afraid to do their jobs, and that endangers the public," said Mike Hahn, retired Assistant Commander of the 7th District.

“This recent case is yet another example of the MSP weaponizing administrative criminal processes against its own members to suppress dissent within their ranks and advance political agendas that align with their preferred narratives… Without significant leadership changes at the top and to the organizational structure of the agency, trooper morale and support will remain at virtually zero,” said Mike Caldwell, retired Captain of the MSP 7th District.

This is the first of a nine-part series published over the next two weeks by WLNS.

“Law enforcement should have one responsibility and one responsibility only: keeping our communities safe. Under the failed leadership of Governor Whitmer, state troopers have dealt with identity politics and hug-a-thug policies on top of woke prosecutors and sanctuary cities across the state. Troopers and taxpayers have lost confidence in Lansing Democrats because their agenda empowers and emboldens the criminals who put us all at risk,” said Zach Rudat, Spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network.
