Tax Hikes, Job Loss, and Ranked Choice Voting, Oh My!
Lansing, MI - Today the State Board of Canvassers considered ballot measure language for circulation for three reforms that would be detrimental to Michigan’s future:
A tax increase disguised as an education plan, taking billions of dollars from hardworking taxpayers to subsidize wasteful government spending.
An economy-buster initiative that would close 1 in 5 restaurants, put 60,000 jobs on the line, and impose pay cuts for hundreds of thousands of Michigan workers.
A ranked-choice voting mechanism that would disenfranchise voters, undermine election integrity, and infringe on our constitutional rights.
“Today’s Board of Canvassers meeting underscores just how much is at stake for Michigan’s future. Michigan is at a crossroads - the policies we have on our books will determine if we fall down the path of New York and California, or spring to the thriving ranks of Texas and Florida,” said Zach Rudat, Spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network. “The recipe for success in Michigan doesn’t include tax hikes, red tape, or voter suppression. If we want to model the growth of conservative-run states, Lansing needs to cut taxes, support workers and job providers, and empower Michigan voters.”
