The Clock is Ticking on Senate D’s to Get on Board with Common-Sense Solutions

Lansing, MI - The Clock is ticking on Senate Democrats in Lansing.

Michigan taxpayers are impatiently waiting for common-sense solutions from Lansing to fix our roads and broken education system. And while House Republicans promptly put those pleas into action, Senate Democrats are playing politics and stonewalling progress.

“House Republicans have shown taxpayers what’s possible: Lansing can deliver record investments in our roads, record investments directly into our classrooms, all while cutting taxes for hardworking Michiganders. Senate Democrats have offered no balanced budgets, no roads plans, and no solutions to lower costs for Michigan families. House Republicans are literally putting their money where their mouth is - it’s far past time for Senate Democrats to either offer solutions of their own, or sign on to the common-sense solutions from House Republicans,” said Zach Rudat, Spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network.

While budget negotiations play out in Lansing, the 35th Senate District still remains vacant. If the Governor had called a special election as soon as possible, and a Republican had won, Senate Democrats would not be able to stonewall common-sense progress in Lansing.
