Out-of-Touch Jocelyn Benson Doesn’t Know What the Income Tax Rate Is?
Lansing, MI – In a stunning display of just how out-of-touch Democrats have become, Michigan Secretary of State and Democrat nominee for Governor Jocelyn Benson was caught in an interview saying she did not know what Michiganders currently pay in taxes. Still, only seconds later, she said the tax code needed an overhaul to make it more equitable:
Benson’s claims in the interview are not even true. Michigan does not have a tax exemption for aviation fuel, which is subject to a 6% sales tax and a $0.03/gal aviation fuel privilege tax. The apparent injustice Benson claims she wants to fix does not even exist.
Sadly, this has become the Democrat way: lie about non-existent problems and make tax hikes the solution.“While Michiganders are struggling every day because of Democrat policies, Benson didn’t even bother to learn how much the government is charging them,” said Gabe Butzke, a spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network. “It takes a special kind of ego to suggest a massive overhaul of the tax system without even knowing what the tax rate is.”
