Michigan Democrats Make Their Priorities Clear

Lansing, MI – Democrats in the Legislature are charging forward with a radical agenda to kill the Michigan economy, support illegal immigrants, and make the housing affordability crisis even worse, showing that they have learned nothing from their 2024 losses. Instead of adjusting to the needs of Michiganders, Democrats are doubling down on their far-left, unaffordable agenda.

For starters, they have introduced a series of job-killing bills, including raising the minimum wage to $20 an hour, increasing taxes, and expanding the power of unions. Despite Michigan continuing to struggle compared to the rest of the country when it comes to jobs and unemployment, Democrats are trying to make it harder for companies to move here and create jobs.

A package of bills would also allow illegal immigrants to get driver’s licenses and state ID cards, making it easier for people to work and live in Michigan illegally. 

Democrats have also introduced a “bill of rights for the homeless,” which could lead to rent controls, allow people to vote without an address, and prevent landlords from screening tenants, potentially making an already expensive housing market even more unaffordable.

“Democrats are again making it clear that their priorities don’t match Michigan’s,” said Gabe Butzke, a spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network. “They’re doubling down on their radical, out-of-touch agenda.”
