ICYMI: Whitmer’s Pay-to-Play Corporate Handout Scheme Spirals into Criminal Probe
Lansing, MI - The Whitmer Administration is hoping you missed some breaking news just before the Fourth of July weekend.
Last Thursday investigative reporting from the Detroit News confirmed two important details in the ongoing legal battle between Attorney General Dana Nessel and Governor Whitmer’s Corporate Handout Department, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation:
MEDC lawyer Linda Asciutto deliberately obstructed investigative efforts into a $20 million taxpayer-funded grant to Democrat powerbroker Fay Beydoun.
Newly disclosed emails confirm Governor Whitmer herself directed the MEDC to “give a nod of approval” for the grant intended for Beydoun, before it was awarded to her.
“Under the direction of Governor Whitmer, billions of tax dollars have been wasted and funneled into the MEDC. Tax dollars that could’ve gone toward our roads, our classrooms, or our first responders, instead ended up lining the pockets of Democrat donors like Fay Beydoun,” said Zach Rudat, Spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network. “Governor Whitmer and the MEDC work for the taxpayers, not their partisan handlers. They owe the public complete transparency and accountability on how they’re spending our tax dollars to curry favor with political allies.”
Despite wasting billions of tax dollars on “economic development” through the MEDC, Michigan still has nearly the worst unemployment rates in the nation.
