Michigan Unemployment Nearly the Worst in the Nation for Third Consecutive Month

Lansing, MI - Michigan’s unemployment numbers continue to paint a bleak picture for Michigan workers.

According to new US Bureau of Labor statistics, Michigan has the 2nd highest unemployment rate in the nation for the 3rd consecutive month. Michigan also saw the 2nd highest unemployment rate growth in the nation compared to May of 2024

“Thanks to the irresponsible agenda of Lansing Democrats, Michigan is one of the worst states in the nation for Michigan workers. Job providers are passing on investments here because our costs are too high, our regulations are too excessive, and our education system is too broken. This abysmal national standing underlines what Michigan workers already know: it’s time for a serious course correction in Lansing,” said Zach Rudat, Advocacy Director for Michigan Forward Network.

Lansing Republicans are echoing the need for a major change in Lansing, advancing plans that cut taxes, cut red tape, and unlock new paths to success for Michigan students.
