ICYMI: Florida to be Open For Business, Michigan to be Closed
Lansing, MI – This month, Senator Rick Scott of Florida had a warning for Michigan voters. Speaking at an event in Macomb County, he talked about the dangers of the “Invest in MI Kids” proposal, which radical Democrat activists are trying to get on the ballot in Michigan:
He also cautioned that snowbirds, people from Michigan who winter in Florida, might start extending their stays, saying, “Do you just give people another reason to, instead of coming down here for two months or three months or four months, come down here for six-plus months and become a resident?”
The so-called “Invest in MI Kids” petition is another thinly veiled effort from Michigan Democrats and out-of-state activists to create a graduated income tax in Michigan. It would raise taxes on thousands of small businesses, forcing them out of state or out of business altogether.
“This proposal would be catastrophic for an already struggling Michigan economy,” said Gabe Butzke, a spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network. “If we want businesses to leave our state in droves, this is the way to do it. We can’t let out-of-state activists decide Michigan’s future.”
