Michigan Democrats Implode at Convention

Lansing, MI – Over the weekend, the Michigan Democrat Party held their endorsement convention. If there was one word to describe it, it would be “disaster.” On Sunday, their voting system broke, delegates were checked in without identification, and even now, Democrat Party Chair Curtis Hertel still has not released the actual results for their endorsement votes.

Perhaps worse than the management of the convention are the Democrats' actual nominees. Their Attorney General candidate, Eli Savitt, is a George Soros-backed, openly soft-on-crimeprosecutor. For Secretary of State, they nominated Garlin Gilchrist II, who ran as a consolation candidateafter Jocelyn Benson pushed him out of the race for governor.

The convention was also marred by allegations of antisemitism. There were reports of profanity from anti-Israel protestors, and they nominated a candidate for University of Michigan regent who previously praised the terrorist group Hezbollah. A Jewish Democrat state legislator took to social mediato lament the radical antisemites who have taken over his party:

In many instances, the Democrats were also turning on one another. U.S. Congresswoman and candidate for U.S. Senate, Haley Stevens, was viciously booedduring her speech at the convention:

“Michigan Democrats showed their true colors this weekend,” said Gabe Butzke, a spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network. “They were unable to manage their own convention, nominated a slate of radical candidates, and were, frankly, childish in their behavior. They shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near positions of leadership in Michigan.”
