Michigan Democrats Double Down After 2024 Losses
Lansing, Mich. – After losing in 2024, Michigan Democrats are showing that they have not learned anything from voters’ rejection of their agenda. Instead of focusing on issues that matter to Michigan families, they are still embracing the same extreme, divisive rhetoric that cost them support across the state.
This week, Democrat U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed advocated for violence, telling his supporters: “When they go low, we don’t go high. We take them to the mud and choke them out.”
At the same time, Democrat State Representative Carrie Rheingans took to TikTok to promote gender affirming care and encouraged children to reach out to her office directly.
This sort of language is not new. It has been the playbook for Democrats across Michigan for years. These are just more examples of a Democrat Party that is more interested in inflammatory rhetoric and divisive social experiments than addressing the everyday challenges Michiganders face: high prices, declining schools, and crumbling infrastructure.
“After getting rejected at the ballot box, Michigan Democrats could have taken the opportunity to change course and listen to the voters. Instead, they’ve doubled down on rhetoric and policies that just divide families, distract from real issues, and exclude themselves from common sense solutions,” said Mary Drabik, a spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network. “Abdul El-Sayed’s violent language and Representative Rheingans’s gross appeal to children show exactly why voters have lost faith in the Democrat Party.”
