ICYMI: McDaniel: Whitmer's policies are driving up energy prices

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, Michigan Forward Network CEO Ronna McDaniel penned an op-ed for The Detroit News blasting Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Green New Deal policies. She details how Lansing Democrats are raising energy prices on Michiganders everywhere, including a nearly 10 percent hike on 7 million Michiganders as winter begins.

With their trifecta, Democrats in Michigan passed sweeping energy “reforms.” New green energy mandates, divestiture from traditional generation methods, and mandatory buildouts of massive plants across rural areas of Michigan are just a few of the selling points of Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Green New Deal.

The Michigan Public Services Commission (MPSC), which is made up of Governor Whitmer appointees, has approved rate hike after rate hike. There have been nearly 10 electric and gas utility rate increases since Whitmer signed the Green New Deal into law two years ago.

These radical energy policies are projected to raise Michigan families’ energy costs by $2,700.

As the months fly by, and as cold winds start to blow through our neighborhoods, Michiganders from Monroe to Marquette are going to be asking why their energy bills are so high. Let’s see if Gretchen Whitmer and Lansing Democrats have the courage to tell them it was their deliberate policy choice.
