Democrats Don’t Just Want to Defund the Police – Now They Want Officers Doxxed

Lansing, MI – Today, the Michigan Senate Committee on Civil Rights, Judiciary, and Public Safety heard testimony on three anti-law enforcement bills that would put Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in danger, make it more difficult for federal law enforcement to do their jobs, and prevent the federal government from apprehending criminal illegal immigrants. Meanwhile, death threats against ICE agents and their families are up 8000% in the last year.

The bills, introduced by Senate Democrats, would ban ICE agents from wearing masks, stop them from arresting criminals in “protected” areas like wedding parties, and prevent state and local law enforcement from sharing information with the federal government – all in direct opposition to federal law.

Under these bills, a person in Michigan illegally could commit a violent crime, and then simply duck into one of these safe zones to avoid arrest by ICE.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) made it clear that they support a criminal’s right to hide over a law enforcement officer’s safety:

Similar legislation has been introduced in the Michigan House by Democrat Representatives Carrie Rheingans and Betsy Coffia. None of the bills are expected to pass under the leadership of Republican Speaker Matt Hall.

“It is no surprise to see legislation like this from the same party whose slogan was ‘defund the police,’” said Gabe Butzke, a spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network. “Democrats allowed illegal immigrants into our country by the millions for years, and now they want to endanger the hard-working law enforcement officers who are trying to remove them. Michigan Democrats’ compassion for criminals is cruelty to victims.”
