Deal? Or No Deal?

Lansing, MI - All eyes will be on Lansing tomorrow as Michigan taxpayers wait to see if Democrats continue to obstruct on the budget or get on board with Republicans' common-sense solutions.

Despite campaigning on “Fix the damn roads,” Michigan roads are crumbling on Governor Whitmer’s watch. And even in the face of record education funding, Michigan test scores are still some of the lowest in the nation.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. That’s why House Republicans are proposing bold new ideas to fix our roads and broken education system, without raising taxes.

“While the left calls for tax hikes to ‘solve’ all our problems, House Republicans have passed common-sense solutions to fix our roads and schools without raising taxes. These plans are sitting in the Senate Chamber collecting dust with no action. Senate Democrats face a choice: work with Republicans to deliver common-sense solutions, or obstruct at the expense of our students and our roads,” said Zach Rudat, Spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network.

Lansing has no shortage of tax dollars. State spending has increased a staggering 43% since Governor Whitmer took office, with tax dollars being wasted on corporate handouts, pork barrel projects, and bloated bureaucracy. Senate Democrats are also facing increased pressure from national Whitmer allies, with a digital ad campaign urging Senators to “get the job done on a road funding fix.”
