Chedrick Greene Crashes and Burns in First Candidates’ Forum
Lansing, MI – Last night was the first candidates' forum for the special election in Michigan’s 35th state Senate District. Republican Jason Tunney faced off against Democrat Chedrick Greene, but it was not much of a contest.
Tunney made the point that Michigan needs more jobs, not more taxes:
But, in typical Democrat fashion, Greene argued that Michiganders’ taxes are not high enough:
On public safety, Tunney took a bold position, saying that violent meth heads belong in prison. Chedrick Greene disagreed:
Unfortunately for Greene, his bad policy suggestions were not the worst part of his night. On multiple occasions, he declined to use his rebuttal time to answer questions, and at one point, he simply gave upmidway through a response:
“It would be charitable to call Chedrick Greene’s performance in last night’s debate a trainwreck,” said Gabe Butzke, a spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network. “When he did actually answer questions, he used his time to defend violent criminals and advocate for raising taxes, something we’re sure the people of the 35th District won’t forget.”
