Benson Hands Out the Big Bucks, Hides the Details
Lansing, Mich. – Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson just approved a $775,000 payout to a department director who accused the Department of State of creating a "racially hostile environment". The deal was struck with little transparency and leaves taxpayers footing the bill without answers.
This is not a one-off incident for Michigan Democrats. The Whitmer administration has a track record of costly payouts to make its problems disappear. Each one raises the same question: are they really looking out for the public, or are they just looking out for themselves?
Even Democrats are speaking out, blasting the size of the settlement and the secrecy surrounding it as Benson campaigns on a promise of “efficiency and transparency”. Former Democrat State Representative Sherry Gay-Dagnogo took to social media, questioning the lack of transparency around the payout.
“Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s taxpayer-funded payout is part of a disturbing pattern among Michigan Democrats: big checks, no transparency, and zero accountability,” said Mary Drabik, a spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network. “Promises of efficiency and transparency mean nothing when Benson is looking to protect her political image instead of giving answers to taxpayers.”
