200 Days
Lansing, MI - Today marks 200 days since 270,000 Michiganders in the Great Lakes Bay Region had a full voice in Lansing.
Governor Whitmer has refused to schedule a special election for the competitive 35th State Senate District, playing politics at taxpayers’ expense to protect her party’s slim grip on power in Lansing. Whitmer is ignoring calls for action from a growing bipartisan list of voices, including:
Taxpayers (rallying at the Capitol and in the district)
Fellow Democrats (including LG Gilchrist, AG Nessel, Rep. Dylan Wegela, and Pamela Pugh)

“Over 270,000 Michiganders have not had a seat at the table, an advocate for their region, and a voice for their community for 200 days. Over a quarter million Michiganders don’t have fundamental democratic rights because Governor Whitmer cares more about her political interests than the interests of the people,” said Zach Rudat, Spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network.
While 270,000 Michiganders are missing their State Senator, State Representative Bill G. Scheutte of Midland is proposing a 50% income tax deduction for residents missing half their representation in Lansing.
