There’s Spin and There’s Abdul El-Sayed
Lansing, MI – Tonight, former Congressman Mike Rogers and Democrat Abdul El-Sayed met on the debate stage for the second time, and saying that El-Sayed tried to spin his way out of his past record would be the understatement of the cycle.
In just one example, El-Sayed tried to claim he supported Michigan’s auto industry and gas-powered cars.
The problem?
He previously attacked them, comparing them to cigarettes:
He also changed his tune on defunding the police. In 2020, he said, “We do need to defund the police,” but on the debate stage tonight, he backtracked:
Shockingly, there was one radical position El-Sayed was actually up front about: packing the U.S. Supreme Court. Unlike many Democrats, he was honest about his desire to expand the Court:
“It’s rare to find a politician with as little integrity as Abdul El-Sayed,” said Gabe Butzke, a spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network. “The fact is, he was either lying to the radical leftists whose vote he begged for in the August primary, or he’s lying to Michiganders now. By all accounts, it’s the latter. Abdul might have changed his tune, but his dangerous principles remain the same.”
