Tens of Thousands Have Moved Out of Michigan Under Whitmer
Lansing, MI – The U.S. Census Bureau released its updated figures for domestic migration this decade, and, surprising no one, Michigan is in the bottom ten.
While Republican states like Florida, Texas, and Tennessee make up almost the entire top ten, Michigan rounds out the bottom of the list with California, New York, and Illinois. Since 2020, almost 70,000 more people have left Michigan than moved in.
After Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s failures on the economy, education, and her handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, no one should be surprised that Americans are choosing another state to live in.
“There is an obvious pattern here,” said Gabe Butzke, a spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network. “People are choosing to live in states with lower taxes and states that are tackling the housing crisis head-on – Republican states. Tens of thousands of people took a look around Michigan and decided they wanted to live somewhere else.”
