See How House GOP K-12 Plan Impacts Your School District

Lansing, MI - Today marks the July 1st budget deadline, and so far House Republicans are the only team in town that has presented a balanced K-12 budget recommendation.

The House proposal includes a historic 20% increase in per-pupil funding, up to $12,000 per student, to give our schools the resources and flexibility to meet the most pressing needs of their students. House Republicans are also proposing reforms that dollars can’t buy, with a plan that would bring more transparency and accountability to Michigan classrooms.

Here’s what that 20% additional funding would look like for some of the largest school districts in Senate Democrat districts:

Detroit Public Schools Community District: $76 million

Utica Community Schools: $39.3 million

Plymouth-Canton Community Schools: $24.1 million

Ann Arbor Public Schools: $23.7 million

Chippewa Valley Schools: $22.4 million

Grand Rapids Public Schools: $20.6 million

Kalamazoo Public School District: $20.6 million

Warren Consolidated Schools: $19 million

Walled Lake Consolidated Schools: $18.2 million

Lansing Public Schools: $15.2 million

L’Anse Creuse Public Schools: $14 million

South Lyon Community Schools: $12.8 million

Grand Blanc Community Schools: $11.7 million

Birmingham City School District: $10.1 million

Grosse Pointe Public Schools: $9.7 million

Novi Community School District: $9.6 million

Jackson Public Schools: $9.4 million

Woodhaven-Brownstown School District: $9 million

Okemos Public Schools: $7 million

“House Republicans are demonstrating what’s possible when leaders roll up their sleeves and do the hard work. Lansing can afford to invest more resources directly into classrooms and fix our crumbling roads, all while cutting taxes for hardworking Michiganders. Senate Democrats are the only thing standing in the way of tax cuts, better roads, and more resources for Michigan students,” said Zach Rudat, Spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network.

Every school district, including ones in the vacant 35th Senate District, would see additional funding under the House GOP K-12 plan. Click here to see how your school district would benefit.
