Petition to Rig Election Rules Turns in Signatures
Lansing, MI – Today, Michiganders for Money out of Politics (MMOP) turned in signatures to the Secretary of State to put their proposal on voters’ ballots in November. The group has branded its proposal as an initiative to stop political spending and dark money in Michigan elections, but, in reality, it’s an effort to rewrite the election rules to favor Democrats and their allies:
Though the group claims to oppose dark money spending, it has received millions of dollarsfrom far-left, dark money organizations and radical activists like Jane Fonda:
MMOP’s signatures will now go to the Board of Canvassers for verification. The group needs more than 360,000 valid signatures to make the ballot.
“MMOP has been lying to voters for months about what their petition actually does,” said Gabe Butzke, a spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network. “Michiganders should not be fooled by this dishonest organization if their rule-rigging proposal makes the November ballot.”
