Locals Say ‘No,’ Gretchen Whitmer Says ‘Yes’

Lansing, MI – A township in Michigan has been fighting a new solar installation for months, with residents and local officials trying to keep control of their community. Sadly, as a part of her unreliable and expensive Green New Scam, Governor Gretchen Whitmer took the zoning authority for large-scale projects away from local governments and gave it directly to the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) – the same board of unelected, Whitmer-appointed bureaucrats who have approved more than a billion dollars in rate increases.

Michigan Forward spoke to residents, township trustees, and state Representative Steve Frisbee to see how Zeeland Township ended up on the frontlines of Gretchen Whitmer’s war against local control:

Whitmer was caught on a hot mic last month at a groundbreaking for another controversial project, saying “we’re used to people saying ‘no’ and doing it anyway.”

“Gretchen Whitmer has never cared about the input of local communities,” said Gabe Butzke, a spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network. “All the governor has ever cared about is her own far-left agenda and keeping her insider allies happy.”
