Eli Savit Invests in AI Chips While Criticizing Data Centers

Lansing, MI – A new report shows that Democrat nominee for Michigan Attorney General Eli Savit has been investing in a company that provides infrastructure for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, while campaigning against AI data centers.

The revelation comes from Savit’s personal finance disclosure, which shows that he holds stock in Arm Holdings, a manufacturer whose AGI wing makes CPUs for data centers, including for Oracle, the company behind a controversial data center project in Saline Township in Savit’s home county of Washtenaw. 

Notably, that same data center is being pushed by Ryan Friedrichs of Related Companies, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s husband, while Benson promised that “none of my family is profiting from data centers.”

Savit has often been critical of data centers, attacking their energy use as part of his campaign strategy.

“The hypocrisy is stunning, but it’s exactly what we have come to expect from Eli Savit,” said Gabe Butzke, a spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network. “This is the same man who refuses to enforce certain drug crimes and prostitution, while promising he would reverse his policies once elected statewide.”
