Eli Savit Free to Disregard the Law, Says Biden-Appointed Judge
Lansing, MI – Last week, a Joe Biden-appointed federal judge ruled that Washtenaw County officials, who are determined to make the area a safe haven for illegal immigrants, are free to continue disregarding the law. The county was sued by the federal government for instituting sanctuary policies, making it harder to enforce immigration laws.
At the center of the lawsuit was Soros-backed County Prosecutor and Democrat nominee for Michigan Attorney General Eli Savit, who has changed his office’s policies to protect illegal immigrants. Savit had already come under fire for refusing to enforce certain laws he didn’t like, including ending the prosecution of prostitution and even some drug crimes, like psilocybin.
Under his sanctuary county policy, his office will take the impacts of prosecution and plea deals on someone’s immigration status into consideration. In other words, Savit does not prosecute an illegal immigrant if it could lead to their deportation.
In response to the ruling, Eaton County Prosecutor and Republican nominee for Attorney General, Doug Lloyd, said:
“Sheriff Bouchard said it best: Prosecutors like Eli Savit need to ‘do their damn job.’ This case wasn’t about protecting illegal immigrants; it was about a prosecutor who doesn't want to prosecute.”
Savit was asked previously whether he wanted to continue with his anti-rule-of-law agenda as attorney general, and he appeared to run away from his own radical record.
“Eli Savit already knows he is too radical for Michigan, which is why he has tried to distance himself from his own far-left policies,” said Gabe Butzke, a spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network. “For now, he’ll be allowed to continue throwing out laws he doesn’t like and protecting illegal immigrants over Michiganders.”
