BOMBSHELL: Michigan Democrat Treasurer Allegedly Embezzled Thousands, Spied on Elderly Woman

Lansing, MI – Today, the Michigan House Oversight Committee took testimony on the alleged misconduct of the Michigan Democrat Party’s former treasurer, Traci Kornak. While Kornak was maintaining the books for Michigan’s Democrats, she is alleged to have taken advantage of her elderly client, Rose Burd, over the course of a decade-long conservatorship.

Kornack is accused of Embezzlement from a vulnerable adult over $100,000, False Pretenses, and Identity Theft, and charges have been recommended to the prosecutor in the Allegan County Probate Court.

According to the evidence compiled by House Oversight, Kornak went as far as placing cameras in Burd’s residence to spy on her:

Kornak also allegedly attempted to record a private conversation between Burd and Adult Protective Services (APS):

Even more shocking is that Attorney General Dana Nessel knew about the alleged misconduct and tried to cover for Traci Kornak:

Without a full investigation, the Attorney General’s office sent a memo recommending that the matter be closed.

Further subpoenaed emails from Dana Nessel show that she asked to be updated regularly on Kornak’s case, and noted to her staff that the investigation was holding up a judicial appointment for Kornak.

Notably, Kornack was a donor to Dana Nessel and was a member of the then-Attorney General Elect’s transition team.

“If Dana Nessel’s seven years in office hadn’t been such a disaster, this story might not have been believable,” said Gabe Butzke, a spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network. “Unfortunately, favoritism, corruption, and ethics violations are all apparently the hallmarks of Nessel’s term as Attorney General. She seems to only occupy her time with two things: suing President Donald Trump and keeping her friends out of trouble.”
