Does Gretchen Whitmer Even Like Michigan?
Lansing, MI – Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s office announced again that she would be leaving Michigan for a European “trade mission.” This time, she will be jetsetting to Paris, France, for a defense and security conference.
This is now her third European excursion this year. In February, she traveled to Germany and Italy, which cost more than $200,000. At the Munich Security Conference, she was widely panned for giving a lackluster answer on the Russo-Ukrainian War:
The Italian leg of her last European vacation was added so the governor could attend the Winter Olympics, where she watched the U.S. Women’s Hockey Team win a gold medal. Questions were immediately raised about how she received the ticket and who paid for it, but Whitmer’s office has yet to disclose her mystery financier:
All told, Gretchen Whitmer’s travel in 2025 cost around $1,000,000, and it looks like she is hoping to break that record this year.
“Gretchen Whitmer will do anything to avoid being in the state she’s supposed to be leading,” said Gabe Butzke, a spokesperson for Michigan Forward Network. “Our students are struggling to read, our income growth is in the toilet, and our unemployment rate is one of the worst in the country, but the governor would rather be in Paris.”
